Their Char Siew is one of the best we have tried, in KL style! Nicely charred and caramelised. Not dry at all. Just the right proportion of fat and meat. If you are one who preferred less / more fats, you can specify the cuts of meat here (lean, half fat, fat or premium)!
Personal opinions: one of the BEST char siew I’ve eaten. Their Char Siew is KL-styled: so beautifully charred with a glistening caramelised exterior. Imagine that crispy smoky flavour with a sweet and melt in your mouth texture, all in a single bite!! Dip into their special char siew sauce, tastes like paradise indeed. There are 4 cuts for the meat: Lean 瘦, Half Fat 半肥, Fat 肥 and premium 不见天. We got a mix of both lean and half-fat. The half-fat really impressed me with a good proportion of fat-to-meat proportion.
An image speaks a thousand words and I don't think I need to write any more. I mean, take a look at that Char Siew!
In this platter of roast duck, char siew, and roast pork ($20 and $30 shown), I thought the duck was the weakest. But all is made right with that absolutely amazing Char Siew with amazing caramelization.
Specify the leanness of meat you want when ordering. Side of rice is a 'chicken-rice' type which was fragrant and not too heavy.
Sure, I think maybe the shao-rou and the duck could be improved a bit more, but overall this is the kind of stall where the char siew is unique and delicious enough that, IMO earns at least a call-out in the Michelin guide (over other restaurant).
Roast Paradise earns a Highly Recommended from me!
Very tasty roast pork and char siew rice. Comes with a free bowl of soup but it was a bit salty. The price per serving is slightly higher than average but this stall has its faithful customers.
One of the most well known stalls at one of my favourite Hawker Centres in Singapore and was a delight to finally try after seeing it on YouTube a few years back and it didn't disappoint.
Came around just before 2PM as there was no queue and ordered a mix Sieu Yuk Char Sieu Fan for S$5.80 and was absolutely amazed with everything on the dish, especially on the Char Sieu and the rice.
Another stall at Old Airport Road Hawker Centre that I would easily go to again when I return.
Sending some love from Melbourne, Australia!
Wow. Mom tabaoed back a box and I whacked it all. Have been searching high and low for good Char Siew and most of them are the usually tough and dry. Can’t remember when I had such good KL Char Siew in SG. No kidding might be the best I’ve had this year.
Slightly burnt which gives it a crispy outer, sugary and glazed which is sweet and makes the whole slice melt in your mouth and laslty the fats tt just oozes out into your mouth.
The roast pork is very decent but def not those canton paradise standard for sure.
Honestly can’t rmbr coz busy eating the Charsiew.
Okie haters gnna hate. Definitely not for those who are afraid of chaota carbon coz some parts can be really black, getting diabetes coz its sweet or getting fat…
Eat simply if you want good standard KL Char Siew ( like KL’s Overseas restaurant ) at hawker center price. #takemymoney :p
Expect queue during meals time. Supposedly to be good and recommended by many, but I find it nothing to shout about. BBQ pork & roast pork combo cost $5.80. Roast pork doesn’t have the flavourful salty crispy texture that makes you want more. While the BBQ pork is on the sweet side. Sauce drizzled on the white rice is too diluted. Garlicky chilli sauce was good though.
Roasted pork and Char Siu were both delicious. Cooked and seasoned well. Good portion for the price. It had a long queue though (it took me around 30mins. to order) during lunch.
